Testing

Testing

When developing Flutter applications, it is common to restart the app frequently during the development and testing process. However, restarting the app in the testing environment can be challenging as it clears all the data from memory. This can lead to inconsistencies and the need to manually populate test data each time the app is restarted.

To address this issue, the Flood toolkit introduces the TestingSetupAppComponent, which allows developers to populate the testing environment with consistent test data during the app loading process. By providing a reliable and predictable testing environment, developers can focus on writing and executing tests efficiently.

Usage

To utilize the TestingSetupAppComponent, follow these steps:

  1. Add the TestingSetupAppComponent to your AppPondContext.
  2. Initialize the testing environment in the onSetup method of the component.
await appPondContext.register(TestingSetupAppComponent(onSetup: () async {
    // Potentially create a user account using Auth, and create data models using Drop.
}));

By setting up the testing environment in this manner, developers can ensure that every time the app is restarted in the testing environment, it will have a consistent set of test data available for testing purposes.
